I’m Maggie.

My name is Maggie Kinsey. I have been a stylist for 30 years. I feel honored to have people come to me of all shapes and sizes and give me the opportunity to create the look that they are wanting and or needing for all hair types. Curly is my thing ! I am self taught. When I started this curly journey it was just to help my 16 year old niece . She had the most amazing bright orange super curly hair and she hated herself. She would complain to me how people where always touching it to see how big they could get it. Or that she would come home from school and find pens and pencils in it that she hadn’t put there. I wanted to try and learn as much as I could to help this incredible young lady embrace the beauty of her. And so that is what I did. I figured out what worked and what didn’t work and I went back home ( Connecticut I live in Indiana ) to teach her how to embrace her natural curl. A year later she was given the first book by Lorraine Massey “ Curly Girl The Handbook” and read it from cover to cover . She excitedly called me to let me know that she had plagiarized . So much of what I had said to her was in this book. I was THRILLED ! So grateful that information was out there for curly people to learn how to embrace the beauty of their hair.

Flash forward to today. There is WAY TOO MUCH INFORMATION out there now. It’s unbelievable ! And super frustrating. I get kicked off of and or blocked from so many of the sites that are out there. They are overwhelming and over critical of people just looking for some guidance. It’s “ Listen to us, use this product and this product only or your the problem not your hair” It’s listen to our theories and ours alone or your the problem and your hair will show it that you can’t listen and follow directions. “ Really !!

Look, your hair isn’t rocket science. It’s individual and needs to be treated as such. Some of you will fall into basic patterns and shapes so that you can follow different ideas from different companies. But all product just like all hair types are not the same and will respond differently in not only different curl types but in different climates.

SO I decided that I wanted to be out here to help, to guide. Not to guilt you and or tell you you have to use one product over another. I am not trying to sell you anything . I will help you towards the right product types that you should be using and not using. I will guide you in advise of how to style your hair one way or the other depending on your skill set and curly type and desired look. I will forward advise and knowledge from other professionals and basically be here to help you embrace the beauty and individuality that is your amazing curly hair. No shame No bashing of other advise sites or companies that are running those sites. Just the facts about curly hair. Welcome. I can’t wait to meet you and get us both started on this new journey.
